SIMON CARE MA (Oxon)

After reading Modern History at Jesus College, Oxford, Simon spent a gap year working for charity at Immingham Docks in Lincolnshire.  He then returned to his native Port Talbot, where he worked for Neath Port Talbot Council and simultaneously studied law at the University of Glamorgan.

Simon joined the Dispute Resolution Team at Berry Smith in 2004 and became a senior associate in April 2011.  His practice covers all aspects of commercial litigation, including contract, shareholder and partnership disputes.  Simon has dealt with cases in both the County Court and the High Court.  He is currently acting in a high-profile competition law claim in the Court of Appeal against the manufacturer of Titleist golf clubs, which is believed to be the first case of its kind in Europe.

Over the past seven years, Simon has developed a particular expertise in property disputes.  He is a key member of Berry Smith’s specialist Property Litigation Team and has given a number of seminars to property agents across South Wales.  Simon is currently acting in several right of way cases, as well as boundary disputes, adverse possession claims and various disputes between landlords and tenants (ranging from residential and service charge related disputes to contentious lease renewals and claims for dilapidations). Simon also regularly deals with probate and wills disputes which often require specialist knowledge of property related matters.

Simon’s interests include literature, the opera and his three-year-old son, Tristan.
